Governance
Limbs 4 Life is governed by a voluntary Board of Management comprised of passionate members with an array of corporate, community, health and non-profit experience. The Board’s responsibilities include ensuring high levels of accountability to stakeholders, ensuring funds provided to Limbs 4 Life are managed appropriately, ensuring that Limbs 4 Life acts legally and ethically, providing strategic direction, managing risks, monitoring compliance and raising awareness in the community.
Board of Management
Fiona Waugh – Chairperson Fiona has many years of management experience working for a range of non-profit organisations in the education, youth and welfare sectors. Fiona has expertise in non-profit marketing, grant writing and business development and plays a role in these functions at Limbs 4 Life. Fiona is a founding Board Member of Limbs 4 Life and was elected to the role of Chairperson in 2006.
Geoff Hill – Deputy Chairperson Geoff is a prosthetist working in a metropolitan public hospital and holds a Batchelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics (Honours) from La Trobe University. Geoff assists in providing technical information for Limbs 4 Life publications. Geoff joined the Board of Limbs 4 Life in 2005 was elected to the role of Deputy Chairperson in 2006.
Simon Winkler - Treasurer Simon has a background of an aviation nature. Much of his spare time is spent reading and managing small business. His employment has been in large corporations. Simon has been instrumental in creating awareness for Limbs 4 Life via his links at Qantas. Simons sister Michelle is an Amputee.
Ruth Johnston – Secretary Ruth is married to Gary, a below knee amputee. Ruth has worked in managerial positions within the Banking and Finance sector for 19 years and has also recently fulfilled a lifelong ambition to become a Civil Celebrant. Ruth is an active community member, having donated her time to a range of organisations since her teens. Ruth shares her managerial and committee experience with Limbs 4 Life in her role as Board Secretary. Ruth joined the Board of Limbs 4 Life and was elected to the role of Secretary in 2006.
Jason Harrigan – Ordinary Member Jason is a below-knee amputee, who currently is employed in a management role within the telecommunications industry. Jason also has a background in counselling and volunteers his time to a range of community groups. Jason has played a significant role in the development and coordination of the Peer Support Program. Jason is a founding Board Member of Limbs 4 Life.
Narelle Warren – Ordinary Member Narelle is a medical sociologist with experience in researching social and cultural aspects of health, chronic illness, disease in disability. Since November 2004 Narelle has worked on the ADAPT project which focuses on people who had recently lost one or both legs - mostly due to diabetes or vascular disease.
Rob Rickards - Ordinary Member Rob has been an amputee for 30 years, he lost his leg while serving in the army in South Africa, a land mine incident. Rob has been a peer support volunteer with Limbs 4 Life for 2 years & currently works for Qantas as a check pilot. He also voluteers his time to the Wheelies with Wings program.
